Eleven months after inaugurating the Atta-Great India Place underpass to provide succour to those travelling from Dadri-Surajpur-Chhalera Road to Sector 18, the Noida Authority has now unveiled a Rs 72-crore plan to ensure a signal-free, faster commute in Sector 37. The Authority recently approved the construction of a 900-metre-long flyover and a 600-metre underpass at the Golf Crossing traffic junction in Sector 37, which stays congested during rush hour. The project, proposed by the authority's engineering department, is projected to reduce travelling time between Delhi and Noida.

In an attempt to buy peace with the agitating farmers, the Uttar Pradesh Government has scrapped the project for construction of a model township at Tappal in Aligarh along the proposed 165-km Yamuna Expressway connecting Noida with Agra.“Honouring the sentiments of farmers, the Government has decided to scrap the JP Township project along the Yamuna Expressway,” Divisional Commissioner Rajiv Agarwal told reporters in Aligarh on Friday.
Delhi Police has taken a strong exception to the Noida district administration's decision to keep their schools open during the Commonwealth Games. Police said that while even the Gurgaon administration had not shown any intention to keep schools open on the days of the inaugural and closing ceremonies, it was "shocking'' that the Noida administration which is itself hosting one of the cycling events has decided not to follow suit.
Yamuna Expressway Authority has reportedly announced a Rs 154 per square metre hike in compensation for farmers whose land was being acquired in Agra and Aligarh. According to the revised rates, a farmer from Agra will be entitled to Rs 590 per square metre compensation as compared to Rs 446 per square metre earlier. Similarly, Aligarh farmers will now receive a compensation of Rs 570 per square metre as opposed to Rs 436 per square metre earlier.
New schools coming up in Noida, meanwhile, will have to reserve 65% of their seats for residents of Gautambudh Nagar and another 10% for students from rural pockets whose parents are mostly into farming and whose land has been acquired for government projects in the past.
Noida has increased the floor-area ratio (FAR) - the ratio beween total built-up area and area of land on which the building is constructed - from 2.5 to 3, meaning more apartments can come up on a given plot.
Noida Board sanctioned Rs.47.40 crore for the Ganga water project. In its 169th board meeting held Tuesday, it passed a resolution to build a head regulator at the Upper Ganges Canal (UGC), and branch canals to carry 37.50 cusec water to be supplied to different residential sectors of this township. The Noida board also simplified the rules to build educational institutes. The board cleared 10 percent allotment amount instead of 20 percent rules earlier. It also passed a resolution to set up an Industrial Training Institute (ITI) in the town to train youths to meet the increasing demand of skilled workers in industrial units.
