he one who knows the value of time uses each moment well.
Expression:
For the one who knows the value of time, each moment is valuable. Each and every moment of each new day is spent in a worthwhile way. There is an expression of the inner potentials and powers with each passing second. Not a moment passes by without recognizing its worth.
Experience:
When I know to value the time that is in my hands, the present, I will neither be caught up too much with the past nor with the future. I will be able to enjoy this moment and so there will
never be a dull moment in my life. I will be able to bring constant progress with each passing second and experiencing success constantly.
To be ready before time is to be able to give the best in situations.
Expression:
Each situation has something new to teach and there is something to learn from it. For the one who learns from every situation, there is progress. Such a person is able to be ready before time. So when the challenging situation does come up, he is well equipped with whatever is necessary and he is able to give his best.
Experience:
When I am able to understand the fact that all life's situations are just training for me, I am able to learn from everything that happens. I am able to build up and use my inner powers more and
more and I find myself moving towards perfection with each passing moment.
Distinction (Difference) Between Rajyoga Meditation And Mantra Meditation
A mantra is a sacred phrase, word or sound, which is repeated constantly - either loudly, silently or in our thoughts only. It translates literally as ‘man' – ‘mind’ and 'tra' – ‘to free’; so, 'that which frees the mind'. It is generally noticed, that after a certain period of practice, a mantra may become repetitive for the one who is practicing it.
Rajyoga meditation taught by the Brahma Kumaris is a very different approach to meditation from repeating a mantra or focusing on a candle or the rhythm of the breath. In Raja Yoga, along with sitting meditation one is expected to maintain a peaceful soul-conscious state while performing everyday actions. Through maintaining soul-consciousness in this way, I continue to progress towards my aim of attaining constant peace of mind, not just while sitting for meditation. A mantra is used purely for sitting meditation. In Raja Yoga, however, l bring my thoughts of meditation directly into my daily life. This is the first and most important step in making meditation practical. As I go around doing things, l experience being a soul, acting out the role through the body.
Anger Management And Prevention
To get freedom from anger, you need to stop trying to control other people, events and the world in general and accept them exactly as they are at a particular moment. In the meantime, since most of us have learned and developed the deep habit of becoming angry regularly, given below is a stepwise method that, over a period of time, will help you manage and overcome anger completely.
1. Realization
By increasing your self-realization, you will start to notice the anger in its initial stage, e.g. irritation is the first warning that there is a disturbance in your mind. When you do start to experience the irritation emerging, go to the next step.
2. Recognition
Recognize the fact that you and only you are completely responsible for creating your irritation. Make sure not to become irritated at yourself for becoming irritated!
Total Quality Mind (TQM)
At all times in our life, during every minute, we are creators of thoughts. Thoughts are seeds. Our future or destiny is merged within our thoughts. As soon as we put our thoughts into words, which others hear, we plant seeds in the minds of others. If our words are positive, positive seeds are planted in others’ minds; if they are negative, negative seeds are planted. These thoughts (seeds) are then sustained and empowered (strengthened) by others when they think about them and speak about them to others. As a result of which they become reality. This is why we have to be very careful what we say, because the more people hear what we speak and give life or energy to our words, the sooner the reality (positive or negative) will come to life. In short the nature of our thoughts and words are instrumental in shaping our future or destiny.
Question: What are the two things you have recently said in the office or at home that you would not like to become real?
Reflection: Can you think of two things you have thought and said in the past, which have become a reality.
Action: Now take all four examples from above and check what you could have said instead.
Time Management
Whether it's in the office or the more close setting of family relationships, perhaps one of the greatest challenges today is developing the ability to say 'NO' for the right reason, at the right moment and in the right way. There are many reasons why we tend to say 'YES' when we know we should say 'NO'. These include the fear of irritating someone (loss of approval), looking incapable (loss of face), avoiding an argument (loss of temper) or even feeling guilty at not being there for someone (loss of relationship).
When it comes to saying NO, time is not the real issue, it is self-esteem / self-respect. If they are intact they will influence both what you say so and how you say it. Saying NO out of fear or hatred will only generate the same reaction in return. However an confident and positive NO once made is never defended, explained or justified.
Different Forms Of Anger
Depending on our basic belief system, past experiences and perception (understanding) of the present situations we are in, anger takes different forms, which emerge in our mind and get communicated to others through our behaviour:
1. Irritation
You create this when day-to-day events don't happen fast enough e.g. your flight gets delayed, you are made to wait in a queue, etc.
2. Frustration
You create this when events don't occur as per your desires and expectations.
3. Grudge
You create this when you believe that you have been wronged by someone in the past.
4. Resentment
You create this towards those that you think have insulted or offended you or when you are jealous of someone.
5. Hatred
You create this following your deep disapproval of another's actions.
6. Rage
You create this following the build up of anger normally in response to others' actions, which you label as obstructive or interfering, e.g. road rage.
Emotional Intelligence
Most of us create the following forms of disturbances inside our minds: anxiety, tension, fear, irritation, frustration, anger, sadness, depression, worry, powerlessness, hopelessness, etc. These are but a few of the many painful emotional experiences! One minute the high of excitement and the next moment the depths of sadness. We have been taught to believe this is good, normal and healthy, but it is not – it leads only to addiction to the negative emotional disturbance in our minds and the chemicals they secrete in our bodies. When people hear this they immediately think that without the above-mentioned emotions life would be without feeling and meaning, a cold and boring existence. In fact the opposite is true. Free of negative emotional disturbance we are able to feel better, care deeper and better. We also learn how to truly motivate ourselves instead of being dependent on emotions to motivate us. Emotion is the lazy man’s form of motivation. There is very little power in emotion. It always fizzles out fast!
Leadership
The deepest and most important form of leadership today has little to do with leading the troops into battle, or leading the teams into the market place of competition, or even leading the nation or organisation. Leadership is the ability to help others see and know themselves, know their own values (qualities), and their value to others, and align their actions with their values (qualities). It is called integrity, transparency; being egoless, humble, honest, caring and kind. In short, being ‘a good human being’
To use the gift that one has is to be powerful.
Expression:
Each one has surely been bestowed with a special gift, a gift that is unique to each one. The one who recognizes this fact is able to use it for the purpose of bringing benefit to one and all. Under
all circumstances there is the ability to bring out the best from within the self. So there is the influence of that on all around and everyone is benefitted.
Experience:
When I recognize my own uniqueness, I am able to remain free from comparison and competition. I am able to be in the state of self-respect of knowing who I am. This then keeps me content and
peaceful. Along with this, I have a lot of enthusiasm to use this special gift of mine. So there is a constant experience of contentment along with progress.
Meditation For Experiencing Soul Consciousness
Read over the following words slowly and silently. Using the power of visualization, aim to experience them in your mind:
I withdraw my attention away from the physical limbs and sense organs........
I focus on myself........
I am listening through these ears........
I am looking through these eyes........
This instrument of mine, the physical body, is a precious vehicle........
a valuable instrument, a medium........
But, that which is more valuable and more precious is the being (soul) making this instrument function........
Within this assembly of bones and muscles and amazing organs is a being of light........
In the centre of the forehead is a point of light ……
I am this being of light........
I the being of light express myself through this body........
But the body is not I........
I am light........
I spread rays of peace in all directions........
I become aware of the power within this point of light........
Within I the being of light is everything that I am and everything that I have........
Within my own being are my qualities, my powers, my talents........
In the awareness of who I am I radiate this light within........
and in the awareness of this inner light........
I hold my head held high in self-respect........
To finish waste questions is to find a solution.
Expression:
When a difficult situation comes up there are waste questions in the mind either about the past or about the future. Questions like 'why did it happen like this?' or 'What will happen now?' are very
common. But to keep the mind busy with waste questions is to block it from using its capability of finding solutions. On the other hand, to finish waste questions, means to keep the mind free for
finding solutions.
Experience:
When I keep my mind free from waste questions, I am able to be alert and find the right answer to every problem. I have the confidence and I know that every problem has a solution. When I keep my mind in the present by freeing myself of waste questions, I am able to quickly and easily find the solution and find myself moving towards success even in all challenging situations.
To be happy is to let go through the mind and not just through words.
Expression:
Things do not always happen as expected. At such times, the one who is able to let go of expectations from the situation is able to
forget it. Such a person will not speak about the situation again and again and describe it to everyone. Nor will there be the need to say, "I let go". Once the situation is accepted as it is, there will not be even a single thought of it.
Experience:
When I accept things as they are, I will be able to learn and be richer with every new experience. I will not be mentally troubled by what happened, but will be able to maintain my own inner happiness. I will thus be able to keep my mind clear for whatever is coming up in the future. So I will find freedom from waste and constant progress with the resources that I have.

The one who is victorious never withdraws till victory is attained.
Expression:
When challenges, either in the form of situations or people, come one's way, the one who aims for victory never withdraws. If there
are excuses given to either withdraw or move away from the situation, there can never be victory. To be victorious means attempts are repeatedly made so that there is a constant and steady progress towards success.
Experience:
Temporary failures, challenges or difficult situations don't bother me, when I have the aim of being victorious. My only focus would be to attain victory and I would experience victory both in defeat and in victory. Also I will never consider myself to be alone as I continue to receive help. I would naturally experience the support and companionship of those around me.
Self Management
One of the deepest patterns, which we all learn to create within ourselves, is to blame others for what and how we feel. Each and every time we point the mental and emotional finger and blame another person or situation, however subtly, we give our power away. Self-responsibility is the first principle of self-management. Once we learn not to blame others for how we feel or for whatever happens to us we only need be careful we don't turn and point the finger at ourselves. No one is to blame but I am responsible. There are three essential steps if you wish to empower (strengthen) yourself. Step one is to know who and what you are. Step two is the acceptance of complete self-responsibility. Step three is to make sure that we don’t reject or blame the self. There is a very fine difference between self-responsibility and blaming the self.
Beyond Your Senses
Find yourself a quiet space and time when you know there won't be any interruptions. Sit down quietly and observe your senses. What can you see, hear, smell, feel and taste? Now, one by one, withdraw (remove) your consciousness (attention) from these senses. Imagine that you are in a world with no colour, no sound, no fragrances, no sensations and no tastes. You are just a star like point of conscient (living) energy situated at the centre of the forehead radiating rays of peace, love and joy to the world around you. Do this exercise slowly: firstly, with conscious awareness and then detaching yourself and finally bringing your awareness back to your senses. Note down your experience.
Distinction (Difference) Between Mind And Body
When we make the distinction (difference) between mind and matter, body and soul, human and being, we are making a distinction between two kinds of energy – physical (matter) and non-physical (spirit). Our bodies are made of the five elements of matter, which combine to make our physical forms, which are visible. Our minds are non-physical energy, which produces invisible thoughts, feelings and attitudes. To understand this more clearly, consider the case of electricity: you know it exists because you can see the result in the form of an electric light, but you cannot see the actual electricity. In the same way the mind cannot be seen but the energy, which comes through it, controls the movement of the body.
Virtues / Values / Qualities
Take one of the following virtues or values (qualities) per day and spend five minutes thinking about its meaning and its application during the day.
Harmony (Unity)
Forgiveness
Trust
Flexibility
Courage
Gentleness
Freedom
Understanding
Benevolence (Kindness)
Patience
Enthusiasm
Tolerance
Serenity (Peacefulness)
Co-operation
Generosity
Humility (Egolessness)
The Corporeal (Physical) And Incorporeal (Non-Physical) World
The world in which we are now living is known as the physical or corporeal world, because all living beings here have a physical, corporeal form. Here 'time', 'space', 'history' and 'geography' are important specifications of life; here the laws of science apply. It is a world of expression and experience.
Beyond the physical world of action lies an infinite, timeless dimension of complete stillness, silence and peace. This is the original home of all souls, the incorporeal world (‘paramdham’ or ‘shantidham’), a soft golden red light world where we, as souls, once stayed in a state of total peace and bliss. Experiencing this 'supreme region' of highest consciousness in meditation recharges the soul, strengthening it with the strength to play its part in the physical world with peace and clarity.
Types Of Fears (cont.)
Let us look at some of the types of fear human beings suffer from:
* Failure
- some people avoid doing something, or choose not to act, because their fear of failure paralyses initiative and confidence.
* Authority - this can be fear of a parent, of a director, even of God. Because authority has often been misused, or misrepresented, in order to control and suppress people, it is a normal consequence that fear, in the form of suspicion and mistrust, has become such a negative force, both personally and collectively, in society.
There are many reasons for these types of fear, but the main ones include:
* Past experiences, which brought disappointment, insecurity, or wariness.
* Lack of faith
in one's self and in others.
* The need for approval, to belong, or to be accepted.
* The habit of seeing things negatively.
Meditation
Seven Stages of Meditation to Achieve Self Realization
1. Relax your body.
2. Withdraw your attention from everything around you, including your body.
3. Affirm, using your thoughts, your identity as a soul or spirit, and your nature as peaceful and full of love.
4.
Contemplate (think) the knowledge of yourself as a soul, a point of spiritual light, situated in the centre of your forehead.
5. Concentrate attention on yourself as a peaceful, loving being.
6. Experience yourself as a soul and acknowledge the feelings of inner peace.
7. Maintain, without force, consciousness of yourself as a soul even while in action and interaction with others.
See and know your self as a source of peace and love.
You are not your body, gender, nationality or profession. You are a spiritual being, and your original nature is peaceful and loving. The only way to convert this belief into experience is through meditation. As you practice meditation and study spiritual knowledge you will increasingly access your inner peace which is your inner power. The more the power of your peace is present in your heart the more you are able to give love and support to your self and to others. There cannot be love unless there is peace. If your own heart is not at peace you cannot give love. There are no greater powers in this life than your inherent peace and your unlimited love.
Question: What do you experience within yourself that is disturbing your peace and blocking the outflow of your love?
Reflection: Recall a time when you felt deeply peaceful - see the scene - feel the peace - now let go of the scene - stay in your peace.
Where there is humility there is the give and take of love.
Usually we don't even know when we are working with our ego because it is deeply concealed. Even when someone points out our ego, we don't want to accept it and we continue to work with it. Ego finishes the ability to learn and negatively affects our relationships because there is no give and take of love. The method to overcome ego is to develop humility. Humility means to be strong within yet to be gentle and
flexible. This enables us to bend i.e., to bow. When we bow it doesn't mean we are defeated, but reveals our own victory. It is only when we bend and forgive that we will be able to allow the flow of love in relationships.
Patience brings harmony in relationships. When there is a misunderstanding in a relationship we hardly put in any effort in order to understand the other person. We tend to become impatient and
we don't listen to the other person to understand them. Because of which we start inventing things about them. This only further increases the misunderstanding. When we have a difference of opinion with someone, we need to give some time to understand and listen to the other person. Only then will we be able to understand the other person's point of view. This practice will enable us to finish any misunderstanding we have with others and bring harmony in relationships.
Success comes to the one who understands the importance of time.
Projection
When we are working at a task, success doesn't come as much as it should because we have not been able to recognise the importance of time. Because of this sometimes carelessness sets in which makes us lose valuable time and interferes in what we are doing. Then we cannot give our best to the task.
Solution
We need to recognise the importance of time so that we never postpone what we can do now. We will then always have the slogan 'now or never' in our mind. Knowing that what we can do now, we
cannot do it as well in the future, we'll give our best to all we do right now. This will enable us to use our time in a fruitful way and success will come very easily to us.
To be prepared for obstacles is to remain cheerful under all circumstances.
Projection:
Generally there is always a wish not to have to face any obstacles. When we begin something new we usually have a thought to have things going perfectly well. So when obstacles do come we are not prepared and we experience dissatisfaction and sorrow.
Solution:
Whenever we start something new we need to prepare our mind that we are sure to be faced with obstacles. Along with it we also need to understand that these obstacles actually teach us something new and it is only with such situations we can learn and progress. When we have such thoughts we will be able to remain cheerful under all circumstances.
True progress brings progress in others as much as for the self.
Projection:
It is usually believed that self-progress and progress of others are totally separate. It is believed that where there is thought for the progress of the self, there is selfishness and there is no benefit for those around. In fact, selfishness in an extreme form can also have a negative influence on those around.
Solution:
In whatever we do we have to check and see if there is any benefit for others along with whatever benefit we are getting. If there isn't we can check to see if there is a better way of doing what we
are doing which could have a positive influence on at least one person. Then we will find ourselves benefitting doubly. We will get the blessings from others along with the personal benefit we get.
The power of positive thoughts enables others to be free from their worries.
Projection:
When someone is going through difficult times there would be naturally worry and tension. At such times it becomes very natural for us too to come into tension. However, we don't seem to be able to help the other person in anyway when we have such thoughts. Instead we only add to the negative thoughts of that person.
Solution:
When we find someone who is having negative thoughts in a difficult situation, we need to remind ourselves that we are the only ones who can help them come back to his positivity. It is possible for us to do this only when our own thoughts are positive. When we train our mind in this way we will be able to maintain our own positivity which will enable the other person also to be rid of his worries
Faith is the key to the best use of one's fortune. For the
one who has faith, in the self and in things, there is
only positivity. Under all circumstances, there are only
opportunities and treasures seen. Each moment is an inner
urge to discover these hidden treasures and make
the best use of them. So the one who has faith draws out
the best from each and every situation. When we are able
to move forward with faith, we are encouraged to give our
best under all circumstances and are able to enjoy the
best fruit of the effort that we put in. Faith gives us
the courage to go on even during difficult times and so we
have the satisfaction of bringing about constant change
and progress in our life.
Faith enables the creation of elevated fortune. Usually
there is a tendency to leave things to destiny. When
something goes wrong, we blame fate for it. Then we feel
the situation to be totally out of our control, which
prevents us from taking responsibility for our own life.
And we will not be able to work in any way for bringing
about a change and improving the situation. Instead of
blaming fate for whatever is happening, we need to take up
responsibility for creating our own fortune for the
future. When we have faith in ourselves we will take up
responsibility for our own life. We will then be able to
work at making our each thought beneficial, contributing
to our
success, making a better future for ourselves.
With benevolent feelings and good wishes we can free
people from worrying. When we come across someone who is
faced with a difficult situation because of which he is
worrying, we too usually tend to think about it. Instead
of helping the other person to be free from worrying, we
too begin to worry. This doesn't help either of us in
anyway but only adds to the negativity of the situation.
We need to develop such benevolent feelings for the one
who is going through the
situation that the power of our positive feelings will
spread to them too. It will act like the light of the
lamp, which helps to dispel the darkness around. Only when
there is positivity in the mind will they be able to think
of some solution.
Pure feelings reach out and bring
benefit to others.
Projection:
When there is someone who is being negative, we tend to
think or speak about the negativity we perceive at that
time. To think about negativity is to imbibe a little of
that negativity within our
mind. Then our mind is no more pure and so whatever
thoughts we have for that person don't have any positive
influence and there is no benefit for them.
Solution:
If we see someone using some weakness, we need to pay
special attention not to think or speak about it. Instead
we need to concentrate on some speciality of the other
person. This gives them
the encouragement to use it. The more we see negative, the
more negative they will be with us and the more we see
positive the more positive they'll be with us.
Perfection comes when there is positivity in
thoughts.
Projection:
When we are faced with any weakness of ours, we usually
think about it so much that it is totally blown out of
proportion and it seems bigger than it actually is. This
leads to negative thinking, which in turn doesn't let us
work on improving ourselves. We will then just remain
the way we are, not being able to bring about progress.
Solution:
What we need to do in order to win over our weakness is
to change our focus. Instead of thinking about the
weakness, we only need to think, "I am not perfect yet,
but I am working towards it and I am slowly improving."
With such positive thoughts, our negativity will finish.
Sweetness is the ability to see the good in all things.
Expression:
Deep within each and every situation is something good. It
only takes a little patience to look within and find it.
When we are able to understand the secret behind what is
happening, it automatically brings sweetness in our life.
Experience:
Whatever happens throughout the day, we should be able to
see the good in it. Even if we are not able to discover
something good at that moment, we should maintain the
faith that whatever happens is for the best.
To be open to change means to
experience constant progress.
Projection:
We usually judge the situation according to our past
experiences and we don't want to change our responses to
the situation. Because we have succeeded once we feel
that the particular response will bring us constant
success.
Solution:
We need to learn from our past experiences but also need
to take care to be open to whatever new learning the
situations may have to offer to us. When we keep learning
from every new situation that comes our way we will be
able to experience constant progress.
Others experience sweetness when words are filled with
the power of truth.
Expression:
False sweetness is saying that something is good without
having taken the pains to find out what it is i.e.,
commenting on something superficial. Sweet words are
those that are spoken after
having understood the reality.
Experience:
In order for our words to have an effect on others, we
must take time to see if we have really understood the
goodness in the other person. Our each comment should be
based on the truth that we have discovered in others and
we will find others taking benefit from our words.
To take a vow means to guarantee transformation
Projection:
When we decide to bring about a change in some aspect we
sometimes work hard in the beginning with commitment and
sincerity and slowly find our enthusiasm lessening. So
we give up before we could really bring about any
change.
Solution:
Just as the one who takes a vow never breaks it, we too
need to take the vow to transform. Whatever obstacles
come our way, our special attention has to be not to
break the vow. Then we will not stop when obstacles come
our way.
Perfection comes to the one who is open to
learning.
Projection:
When we realise having made a mistake, we usually have
negative thoughts about ourselves. This is because we
expect the best out of ourselves, i.e., we expect
ourselves to be perfect in everything we do. But this
expectation prevents us from taking naturally the
learning from the situation.
Solution:
We need to realise that perfection does not come by
thinking about it but by being busy in whatever we are
doing. With every action of ours comes a learning and
this automatically brings perfection.
Where there is courage there is success.
Projection:
When we are involved in a task, we sometimes experience
setbacks. Such setbacks often make us lose our
confidence and we no longer have faith that we will
succeed in the task. We then lose all courage to go
ahead with the task and lose every chance of achieving
what we have to.
Solution:
We need to remind ourselves that we achieve success to
the extent that we have courage. We need to make effort
to maintain our courage even during the most difficult
circumstances. Only when we do this will we continue to
put in effort, which will bring us success at the right
time.
Commitment makes even the most difficult task seem easy.
Projection:
Sometimes we find ourselves having to do something in which we are not so interested, because it is part of our job. When we are forced to do something we don't like we find it very difficult to do the task. As soon as we get a thought as to why we should be doing it, it becomes very difficult.
Solution:
We need to bring sincerity in whatever we are doing. With sincerity comes commitment and with that comes confidence in our thoughts, words and actions. With this confidence we will be able to do the most difficult task with ease.
When we change our world changes.
Projection:
We usually wait for the world to change, sometimes the world at large and sometimes our own little world. Since it is not in our hands we don't find it changing according to what we want and we give up trying. We rarely think of changing ourselves which is possible.
Solution:
When we change, our thoughts and attitude change too. We are then able to look at the people and our world around us with a different vision. Thus we find that our world changes, not so much in the situation as much as in our own perception.
When we
have such thoughts we will be able to remain cheerful under all circumstances.
To have knowledge in the intellect is to be constantly cheerful.
Projection:
When something negative happens, we find that there are only negative or waste thoughts about the situation or people. We try hard not to think about it but we find only those thoughts coming to our mind. With such thoughts the situation seems worse than it is and we find it difficult to remain cheerful.
Solution:
In such situations instead of trying to cut out waste we need to give ourselves something positive to think about. When the intellect is busy thinking about the positive, there'll be no room for negativity. In this way we will be able to remain constantly cheerful even in the most negative situations.
Where there is humility there is the give and take of love.
Projection:
Usually we don't even know when we are working with our ego because it is deeply concealed. Even when someone points out our ego, we don't want to accept it and we continue to work with it. Ego finishes the ability to learn and negatively effects our relationships because there is no give and take of love.
Solution:
The method to overcome ego is to develop humility. Humility means to be strong within yet to be gentle and flexible. This enables us to bend i.e., to bow. When we bow it doesn't mean we are defeated, but it reveals our own victory. It is only when we bend and forgive will we be able to allow the flow of love in relationships.
To say yes is to have regard for all.
Projection:
When someone expects us to do something that we don't like our usual reaction is to say no and give reasons why we don't want to do it or why we don't agree with what the other person is saying. But it usually happens that once we say no, the other person is no longer able to listen to what we have to say.
Solution:
Instead of saying 'no', we need to practice saying 'yes'. To say yes means to try to understand what the other person is saying. Only after that can we put forth our argument. And then the other
person will also give regard to our opinion. This practice will enable us to get good wishes from others and increase our chance for success.
Our words are effective only when we combine them with pure thoughts and inspirational actions.
Projection:
As soon as we find someone's mistake it is natural for us to give correction through our words. We tend to explain to others using a lot of words. Yet we find that inspite of saying the right thing we
are not being listened to and our words are just wasted away. We don't understand at such times where the problem lies.
Solution:
To enable our corrections to others to be effective, we have to combine our thoughts, words and actions. There need to be good wishes in our thoughts which also brings sweetness in our words. We also need to take care that we are putting into action all that we are talking. When we do this we will find that our words are really effective.
To celebrate means to finish all trace of the old.
Projection
We find that whenever there is an occasion, we are full of zeal and enthusiasm for that day. However this doesn't continue for long and we find ourselves getting caught with our old nature. We then give the excuse to ourselves saying, 'this is how we are, and this is our nature' etc. Once we start working with our old nature we cannot be enthusiastic anymore.
Solution
Each new festival is an occasion for us to finish something of the old. We only need to take a determined thought to remove something of our old nature. We no longer need to give excuses, but make the firm promise to ourselves to transform. Our zeal and enthusiasm will then never lessen and we will continue to celebrate with constant enthusiasm.
Faith enables one to bring solutions to problems.
Projection:
When problems come, we tend to overreact to it or exaggerate it to such an extent that it becomes a trap for us. Instead of working on the problem we fall a prey to it making all our thoughts negative. Once we are caught up in negativity we will neither look for, nor find solutions.
Solution:
Each thought of ours is important when working on a problem. Instead of making our thoughts negative, we need to remind ourselves that what we are going through is a test which we must
pass with honour. When we have this thought, all our energy will be focussed on working to bring a solution.
To be a donor means to give at each step and increase one's own stock.
Projection:
Usually it seems very difficult to be a donor - to give from whatever resources we have. The thought often arises in the mind that we cannot give because we are ourselves not complete or full. We find ourselves constantly trying to fill ourselves and we then have no time or thought for giving to those around us.
Solution:
We have a lot of treasures within us which we can give to those around us, our virtues, our specialities etc. Even if we have just a little and give to the others, we will find ourselves benefitting. For having given from whatever we have, we find that these treasures begin to increase within ourselves too.
To be seated on the seat of self-respect is to use virtues in life.
Projection:
It usually seems very difficult to use the virtues within us when the people around are not doing so. At such times using negativity seems much easier. In spite of not having that particular weakness predominantly, say of anger, when there is provocation from the outside we tend to react with that weakness.
Solution:
In order to free ourselves from weaknesses and work with the virtues within us we need to make sure we are seated on the seat of self-respect. For this we need to recognise and appreciate some speciality within us. When we are in the awareness of this speciality of ours, we will be able to stabilize ourselves in the state of our self-respect.
Self-respect increases when one learns to converse positively to the self.
Projection:
The usual way to talk to the self is to talk to the most superficial aspects of the personality, those which are related to fears (including those of the future), complaints and mindless repetition of things in the past. Such talk to the self only lowers the self-respect to a great extent.
Solution:
Not only when our mind is going towards waste and negative, but at all times, it is important that we talk to the mind with love, as we would talk to a child. Like a mother would lovingly explain to the child, we need to teach our mind with love. This creates true happiness within and our self-respect increases.
Change in others is possible when we change.
Projection:
When there is some misunderstanding, we normally want to change
others, trying to bring them to our way of thinking. We usually can't understand why they are not able to understand our way of thinking when we seem to be right. We are usually not able to succeed in this and we end up feeling frustrated.
Solution:
Instead of trying to force people to change their way of thinking, which is not going to work any way, we need to concentrate instead
on our own change process. As long as we are working on ourselves we will be able to be sweet to those around too. Our own change process inspires others also to work on themselves.
Success comes to the one who has a balance of being a master and a child.
Projection:
When we make a contribution in the form of an advice or a
suggestion, we usually do it with confidence. That means we are
sure of ourselves and are a master. But the problem usually comes
when people don't accept our suggestion. We are, then, not able to
accept their decision or criticism.
Solution:
We need to have the perfect balance of being a master and a child.
It means that along with being a master while giving the
suggestions we need the consciousness of a child while it is being
heard. That means we are totally ready to accept the
comments/criticism that we might be faced with.
Habits are transformed when there is introversion.
Expression:
Introversion gives us the power to look within and find the source of the habit
that we want to change. Instead of working at a superficial level, we will then be able
to recognize and change it from deep within. When such deep transformation takes place,
we find that it never emerges again.
Experience:
When we want a habit to be changed, we need to ask ourselves
why the habit is still continuing in spite of our wish to get rid of it.
Along with the recognition of the root cause of the habit,
we need to emerge the positive nature that is within us.
This gives us the confidence and we find our habits transformed.
The way to get blessings is to be open to learning.
Projection:
We do get both negative and positive situations in our life.
When we are faced with negative situations we usually expect
blessings from God or someone great by which the negativity
in our life will fully finish.
But it doesn't usually happen so.
Solution:
The method to receive blessings is to go on learning from the experiences of life. To learn means never to repeat mistakes by learning from whatever has happened.
This learning acts as a lift for us, which takes us forward.
To finish waste questions is to find a solution.
Expression:
When a difficult situation comes up there are waste questions in the
mind either about the past or about the future. Questions like 'why did
it happen like this?' or 'What will happen now?' are very common. But
to keep the mind busy with waste questions is to block it from using
its capability of finding solutions. On the other hand, to finish waste
questions, means to keep the mind free for finding solutions.
Experience:
When I keep my mind free from waste questions, I am able to be alert
and find the right answer to every problem. I have the confidence and I
know that every problem has a solution. When I keep my mind in the
present by freeing myself of waste questions, I am able to quickly and
easily find the solution and find myself moving towards success even in
all challenging situations.
The difficulty of the situation lies in one's own state of mind.
Expression:
To make something big as small or to make something small as big
depends on one's state of mind. When one's state of mind is good, to
deal with situations becomes easy. So, even difficult situations are
crossed over with great ease. Then there will be no dependency on the
external situations to change the internal state of mind. That is,
there will never be a reaction to external situations but there will
be always stability.
Expression:
When my state of mind is good and powerful, I am confident of myself
and am able to easily win over all obstacles. Otherwise, the
situation takes hold of the internal state of my mind and I find
myself bound by the situation. At such a time, I find the smallest
situation to a very big obstacle. But with faith in myself I am very
easily able to use my inner power to overcome situations
Courage Brings Success
Happiness
.
The power of realisation brings permanent transformation
Expression:
To have the power of realisation means to have the power to understand
what is right and to have the commitment to the right thing. So, if a
mistake is committed, when there is the realisation, there is easy and
permanent transformation. So the same mistake is never committed
again.
Experience:
When I have the power of realisation, I will never experience
difficulty in bringing about a change, because I have actually
understood the importance of bringing about change.
Unity.
Expression:
When one suggests something and the other accepts, it gives power to
the gathering. So instead of expecting others to accept suggestions,
it is better to understand and provide with what the other person
needs. The more something is given with generosity there is happiness for the one who is receiving and for the one who is giving. And there is power because of being together in the task.
Experience:
If I take something with force I find that others give it to me only
temporarily. Instead if I give with happiness, I find that others are
able to share with me with happiness. So what I give, I find, remains
with me permanently. So there is an experience of fullness and the
happiness of having attained even while giving. And with this I am
able to experience the power of unity, and the joy of doing things
together.
Greatness lies in being humble.
Expression:
A seed grows only when it is mingled with the mud. In the same way,
the one who is great is naturally humble. He understands the truth
that only when there is humility will there be success. Humility
gives the power to bow down without reducing one's own self-respect.
Experience:
When I am humble I am able to be experience my own inner greatness,
which naturally keeps me set on the seat of my self-respect. So when
the situation demands, I have no problem bowing down. So I am able to
allow the situations to work on me, so I am able to strengthen myself
from within under all circumstances.
To work with joy is to be free from tiredness.
Expression:
When there is the happiness and joy of doing something, one can go
on putting in effort even in the most difficult circumstances. For
having done everything with happiness, there will be the inner quality
revealed in each and every task. The happiness within will spread
around to others too.
Experience:
As I never leave my inner joy, and am constantly in touch with my
inner qualities, I am able to enjoy everything that life brings.
Nothing will then be experienced as work, but I feel everything to
be entertainment. I will be able to enjoy the richness of life even when
there is something actually difficult.
To recognise one's own uniqueness is to respect oneself.
Expression:
To have respect for oneself based on other people's opinion or
situational achievements is to have respect temporarily. True respect
for the self is based on the recognition of the fact that every
individual is unique with its own set of unique capabilities. This
understanding enables one to see one's own uniqueness without being
influenced or without comparing with others.
Experience:
When I know to recognise and appreciate my own uniqueness and respect
myself on this basis, I am able to be free from ego or a feeling of
inferiority. I am also able to recognise naturally the uniqueness of
the other person and respect him for it. Thus I am able to win the
love and respect of others too.
To spread the rays of happiness is to be optimistic.
Expression:
The one who is optimistic is able to spread the rays of happiness all
around. Never does he stop or move back with life's challenges. On
the other hand, he has the courage and determination to move on making
the best out of the situation. Others too are encouraged seeing his faith.
Experience:
When I am optimistic I am able to understand that there is something
good that is hidden in everything that happens. I am able to enjoy
seeing only this positive aspect, filling me with positivity. So my
happiness spreads around and touches the lives of those around me.
Cleanliness means no waste within.
Expression:
To be totally clean means there is not a trace of negativity or waste
within. Even in the most complicated situations there is clarity
within. The mind is clear and clean so there is clarity in words and
actions also. Every decision is taken with a clear mind and so
whatever is done is naturally accurate.
Experience:
When there is cleanliness in the heart, I am able to win the love of
those around me and also of God. I find that I become a mirror for
the others and they are able to see their own perfection through me.
I also find that I am able to save a lot of time as I am able to see
things for what they are and because there is clarity in my thoughts.
To be a leader means to invoke challenges.
Expression:
Each challenge actually brings forth some hidden strength, some latent
power. The one who is able to understand this, is able to face and in
fact invoke challenges. Such a person with constant and unshaken
faith moves on towards victory. Such a person becomes an inspiration
for many and thus is a true leader.
Experience:
When I know the art of facing and learning from challenges, I am able
to remain fearless in spite of the several challenges. Much more than
that, I am able to actually have the courage to invoke challenges
understanding the fact that challenges makes me stronger. So I am
able to face challenges with great ease and enthusiasm
Truth never needs to be proved....
Expression:
When the truth of what is said is challenged, there is naturally a
protest. Words spoken after that are usually defensive and
argumentative. This leads only to waste talk and arguments
because no one is willing to listen at that time. But truth is that
which is revealed on it own and never needs to be proved.
Experience:
When I recognise the fact that I am right and am aware of this, I
never feel the need to prove it. I never argue my point but have
the self-respect of what I am. So even if I am challenged I remain
unaffected. I understand that a real diamond shines on even when
it is lying with stones or covered with dust.
